Nebraska City/Otoe County Economic Development Loan Fund-A fund created to provide economic development and job creation in Nebraska City and the unincorporated areas of Otoe County.

  • Providing financing for start-up of new businesses, or expansion of existing businesses/industry
  • Creation and retention of jobs mainly for low and moderate income persons
  • Diversify the local economy by assisting new business and industry not already present
  • Assist in the redevelopment of vacant and/or blighted buildings and land
  • Assist business and industry with job training costs

Tax Increment Financing - A method of funding public improvements associated with private developments in designated "blighted or substandard" areas of a community. This is achieved by capturing the projected increase in property tax revenue which will result from the private development.

Nebraska City Local Option Municipal Economic Development Tax Fund (LB840)- Local funds available to assist existing businesses and those starting a business in Nebraska City. The funds can be used in the following areas: (available after October 1, 2007)

  • Industrial retention and recruitment
  • Small business development
  • Downtown redevelopment
  • Tourism
